Sinusitis is a disease of the Sinuses.
The inflammation of the sinuses is Sinusitis.
Sinuses are the empty space within the bones and are present around the Eyes, Cheeks and Nose. They are coated with a mucus membrane that produces mucus. This mucus helps in maintaining the moisture and filters the air. However, when the sinuses do not get drained, the mucus get trapped in the sinuses. The chances of infections increases and this infection is known as Sinusitis. It causes swelling and discomfort
Normally, sinuses are filled with air. But when they are filled with the fluid or germs that cause infection it is Sinusitis.
The acute Sinusitis is associated with Cold, Flu and other respiratory problems.
The four types of sinuses are
The Frontal Sinuses : They are present above the Eyes and on either side of the Forehead.
The Maxillary Sinuses : They are present in the each cheek bone.
The Ethmoid Sinuses : They are present behind the bridge of the nose, Between the Eyes.
The Sphenoid Sinuses : They are present between the upper part of the nose, behind the Eyes.
In Sinusitis the headache gets worse as the sun rises and decreases late in the evening.

Food that produces high mucus
Infection of the Respiratory Tract
Bacterial, Viral Or Fungal Infections
If not treated properly, Sinusitis may cause
Asthma Attacks
Note 1: If you are allergic or having weak immune system, then you may be more prone to have Sinusitis.
Note 2: The physical activities such as swimming, sky diving etc causes pressure on the sinuses. People who do these activities frequently, are at high risk of developing Sinusitis.
