Description:
This plant seeks to reach the top of the trees, and only when they reach the sunlight, they pass into the adult phase, that is, they give flowers and fruits, which are white and red or blackened respectively. It is of the Similax genus, which is found in equatorial region, and has several species, for example, Similax harden L., which grows in Europe and Similax spruceana ADC, which is known as Sarsaparrilha-do-Pará, Salsaparrilha-do -maranhão and is Brazil’s own. In the past, natives used sarsaparilla as depurative, but recently it has been proven that it also possesses diuretic, appetizing, sudorific and lubricating properties, besides containing in its composition glycosides, essential oil and resin that promotes all these properties in the plant.

Salsaparilla has among its effects of purifying the genito-urinary area and contributes to the fight against infections. It also softens the inflammations that are caused by rheumatism, arthritis and also absorbs components of bacterial origin from the gut and eliminates them from the body. It also helps in the excretion of uric acid and regulates the urinary system and in the genital system, it increases levels of hormones.
Studies of the homeopath industry have found that the plant has at its root a large level of a male sex hormone, testosterone , so it is quite applied in the manufacture of hormone treatment remedies, and the advantage now is that this plant offers stability in hormone levels, as well differentiating itself from the other treatments that can cause serious disturbances when manipulated in a wrong way by the user.

Directions:
- Put 2 tbsp to a quart of water
- Let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes from the moment it starts to boil
